He’s in my mind. He’s in my soul. He’s even in my rock ‘n’ roll.
Record that inspired you to form a band?
Noel: The Stone Roses' first album.
Liam: One of his.
Noel: You were in the band before me, you daft cunt!
Liam: Alright, alright. But it was still one of your songs that made us start the band.
Noel: Oh, yeah, so it is my band after all.
Liam: Right. "When The Levee Breaks" by Led Zeppelin.
Noel: Also, "The Queen Is Dead" by The Smiths.
Our kid, he’s a bit of a singer, but he knows he can’t sing. He says I can’t write a song. We are both kind of jealous of each other. That’s how I see it anyway. I don’t know. He thinks he’s the only one who really loves music, and his own brother don’t understand it. And I want to prove to him I mean it a little more than he does – and it freaks him out. He sings totally different – then I get a grip of it and I bite the head off of it.

Well, I’m having sex, but it’s not with anyone else except my missus, y’know what I mean? And drugs? I don’t kind of go out of me way to get high, it just sorta happens. Rock ‘n’ roll… I’m still immensely into it and turned on by it and passionate about it. That’ll never change. If you haven’t had sex and drugs before you join a rock ‘n’ roll band, you’re a bit weird, if you ask me.

We was living the dream. I was 23 and I was a millionaire and it was beautiful. I had a girlfriend, or if I didn’t I was shagging everyone. We were out of the ‘dole-drums’.We were having a good time, all the time, the boys on the bus. This time though, I was high, Noel wasn’t as high as me, and he got it in the ass.
